Visit the show records page to see that almost all the horses in competition are shown simultaneously in pro and amateur divisions. They are kind enough for the amateurs but smart enough to know the differences and adjust to them.
Hermoso bred horses are easy to train - another reason the top trainers use them. Amateurs can show them in weanling, yearling and 3 year old halter classes, and continue on into the performance divisions. This claim is supported by statistics from the AHA horse competition records and the nominated sires' progeny statistics.
CA Hermoso+++/ is ranked the top western sire by Arabian Horse World. In the 2007 October issue he is ranked as the #1 Western Pleasure horse; CA Ultimo++/ is ranked #9 of top ten open Hunter Pleasure horses (he was only shown in open once) and #2 in AOTR. See chart below.
In 2006 Hermoso +++/ get won big in western pleasure and hunter with CA Ultimo++/ earning his 8th and 9th national titles in hunter, Aur U Ready to Rumble, taking the Triple Crown in HA Western Pleasure (Scottsdale, Canadian and US Nationals); Victoriosa winning Canadian Nationals Open and Amateur HA Western Pleasure; CA Mejor+/ winning Youth Nationals with Amanda Redmond...to name a few!

Aur U Ready to Rumble has taken the HA Western Pleasure Triple Crown in 2006. Congratulations to his owners Shannon Anguiano, Steve and Karen Freeman.
His sire CA Hermoso+++/ won the purebred Western Pleasure Triple Crown in 1998. CA Hermoso+++/ brought home a Canadian National Reserve Championship and a Scottsdale Championship in WP Amateur in 2006 at the age of 18!

One very important characteristic of the Hermoso progeny is that they are pretty from the day they are born. They "come together" right from the start and can win consistently as weanlings and yearlings in the open and amateur classes.
Here's amateur Laura Koch on her first Western Pleasure ATR Canadian Championship win on her Hermoso daughter Victoriosa:
"This little horse, who is a junior horse herself, just took me around that arena. You know, I am a novice and didn't know how to use the bosal, so I give Victoriosa a lot of credit."
Victoriosa was bred by JoEllen Erickson. Jody Strand selected this mare for Laura Koch as an amatuer horse. Victoriosa in her own right is pretty enough to compete as a national quality halter mare. Her extreme beauty is part of the reason she is so successful in Western Pleasure.
